A positive rant...
Seeing as people usually rant about their negative experience(s) with car dealerships, I figured I'd share a positive that I witnessed. Last week I took my truck in for its' first oil change at West Herr Ford, Hamburg, NY. I was sitting in the waiting area at their Quick Lane, patiently waiting for my truck to be taken care of.
As i'm sitting there, one of the employees walks over and sits next to the lady in front of me, and explains to her that the tech was unable to reset her TPMS system (apparently the low pressure light on her dash had gone off). The tech told him that the lady would need to take her car to the Toyota dealer to reset the TPMS system since it required a special tool that the dealer would have.
The ladies car was finished so she preceeded to leave. A couple seconds after she walked out the door, another employee, Janet, comes back to the Quick Lane, and catches wind of what happened and explained to the other guys working their that there should have been a Reset button under the dash. So Janet walks outside in an attempt to catch the lady before she leaves.
The lady had already left the Quick Lane, so instead of just saying whatever, and not worrying about it, Janet got on the phone, called the lady, and left a voicmail telling her that if she was still in the area to stop back and they would be able to reset her TPMS system.
It's surprising the tech was not aware how to reset the sensor, however, IMO, Janet showed excellent customer service by calling the lady and asking her to come back so they could reset her system when she very easly could have just let it be after the lady had already left.
Sorry for the long stoy, but I just thought it was worth sharing a positive one!!!

Good stuff to hear. I too am very happy with the service dept. at my dealership. They have without fail taken time to hear my problems. Then fix it right the first time. They have never charged me for the sixth quart of oil needed at oil change, and always return the vehicle clean. I know they don't walk on water, and can make a mistake. But, with their track record for me, if they do, no problem. I know they will make it right.
I think there are far more "Janets" out there, than bad ones. When you get a "Janet", you thank them and go on your way. When you get bad service, you are apt to let others know about it.
Good job Janet.
Good job Janet.
