Trust me, they knew what I had in the truck! The truck was sagging from ammunition and 45 rifle boxes in the back and when the guy got into it to move it, there was a box full of handguns in the front seat. Since most of them was pointing at the drivers seat, he asked me to move it over to the detail bay to work on it. He didn't realize the only loaded gun was in my pocket, not in the truck. The good news was he did end up buying a rifle off me so I made some of my money back.
The sales guy did get a earful from the GM for stringing me along on the other issue but he did admit to dropping the ball and forgetting about me.
As far as the holes go, I am going to glue angle brackets underneath the plastic trim piece and screw in a couple pieces of big holed wire mesh and put a thin piece of foam on top. Should keep out the critters and be able to spray some soap and water down ther to clean out road grime.
