Default Plowing Snow

99 150XL 4x4,SC/SB, 4.6, towing package...should be able to handle a 7' blade??? We have a 300' lane and a generous parking area to maintain with about 1ft/day snowfall in the worst of a normal winter. For the last 8 years I have spent my 1.5 hours every morning with a large snowblower clearing the road so the wife could get her car out (I drove Jeeps and didn't care about the snow) and now it seems to me that this truck should be able to plow. Opinions, please and thanks.

What is the weight of the blade?? I don't think you'll have any problems though.

I wouldn't think that the 4.6 and the rest of the drive train were heavy duty enough to be moving a lot of snow.

While living in Michigan, I noticed that all of the privately owned snow movers were at least 3/4 ton trucks with big motors.

Of coarse, if you're not going to be moving a lot of snow, it may be ok for a one driveway application.

I think I would check with a local dealer before messing up a good truck.

your truck will be fine, There are plenty of f150's with plows around here.

I have seen full size plows on toyota tacomas.

I'm starting to think I should keep the truck clean and dedicate a Jeep to plow duty just to keep it simple.

I know lots of guys that plow with 1/2 tons. Most 1/2 tons have large enough engines (even 6 cyl) to push snow as long as it isn't excessive. 4 wheel drive is highly recommended though.
