Lightbulb Plastidipped everything!

I have been meaning to post this for awhile, and I have a lot of videos showing how I did some of it if anyone is interested.

I wanted/needed new wheels about five years ago because mine had erosion/spidering/weird white corrosion on them. I've always like the stock wheels, but they were not truly chrome as much as polished. I did a lot of research and decided I really wanted them powder coated because it's cheaper, and I thought I would like black instead of "chrome." After a little Youtubing, I decided to plasti dip the wheels black....and as I tried white and gray, it was apparent black was the way to go. I used about 1 can per wheel at $5.99 a can. I did use the glossifier, but it's hard to tell if it's being applied or not when you are spraying it, so I only ended up using two cans of it. I plastidipped the two tires on the passenger side and left the ones on the driver's side stock for about a week just to make sure I liked it...(plus who really ever sees your truck from both sides) Once I had done all four tires, I thought it would look dumb to have black wheels and all that chrome still left on the truck, so I got a little wild with it. I taped off the platinum badge and side..plates??? took off the grille and hit up the running boards. All in All it took me about 5 hours because I was drinking and painting and not really worried about time.

I am very pleased with the results. If you walk up to the truck, you can clearly tell that the grille and tailgate are dipped, but that isn't important to me. All I wanted to see was if I would like it being black or not. Once I have enough money to powder coat all of these parts (and the side mirrors) I will be peeling off the plasti dip and dropping everything off. I can understand where some people may say it makes the truck look cheaper, but I have always hated all the chrome. The chrome makes it look fancy/too luxury based to be a real working truck, and I use it during hunting season as it should be. I want something that looks like it belongs in the field. Please let me know what you think.

I wish I could have found a thread with a white platinum dipped in black before I did mine because I could have saved the $30 on plasti dip and just been saving it all for powder coating. Maybe this post will help someone who is trying to make the same decision.

If I could color match the white...I may have loved this more than black

Those are some nice touches. I did that to mine pretty soon after I got it. Eventually, I went to painted ovals and emblems. but the PlastDip allowed me to see how it would look before fairly inexpensively.
