Default Plagued by Code P2096

My scanner popped P2096. I started searching for the problem by checking for o2 sensor connections and condition of the wires. That all checked out, so I checked for exhaust and intake leaks. Finally, I disconnected the sensor plug and it didn't change or add any other code, so I bought a Bosch o2 sensor and attempted to change it. I couldn't get it done, so I gave up and called a local shop for an appointment. I went back out and took it off the ramps, but when I started it, my scanner popped up a new code. P0135 showing now, that is is unplugged.

MacGyver57...
Given that the F-150's range of years is 1975 to current... All this is on what? *Telepathic or Carnac we're not.

Vehicle Information (-minimally-) Year? Engine? Miles? Maintenance? Modifications?

If you're not going to provide the vehicle information in your post(s), consider putting your complete vehicle information (year, model, cab, trim, engine, wheelbase, _x4 drive, mileage) in your signature to have it automagically included when you post. *Eliminates playing 20 questions when/if a post is made in the future pertaining to your vehicle.

Default New at this!

Sorry about the lack of info. Never been on a forum before. I have a 2012 f150 xlt super crew with a 5.0 and 6-Speed. I normally get 19 to 21mpg hwy but now I am only getting 15 to 17. I am still having trouble navigating this page. I retired from 40 years as a heavy truck and equipment mechanic, but I'm not from the computer and internet generation.

Google [ site:f150forum.com/f38 5.0 p2096 ] *(re)search the issue in the 2009 - 2014 Ford F150 forum (several hits)

I am still having trouble navigating this page.
That's understandable... It's organization is not optimal. Also... Be aware that there are year specific forums which better serve non-general F-150 issues/topics.

I'm wondering why you couldn't get the new sensor installed ?

That is not what the code means. Did the shop install a new one or the one that you gave them? What brand was it? O2 sensors generally need to be of high quality. Might have got a bad one.
