Ok, so I'm really getting sick of the fake "wood-grain" garbage in my truck. I have never been a fan of it, but I feel like it's now time to actually do something about it. I've had a couple thoughts, but I'm not sure what they'll look like so I was hoping someone would be willing to try a couple of them out for me. The first thought I had was to color match the wood grain to the outside of my truck. Next was a carbon fiber pattern (this is my ideal plan, but I don't know how I would go about getting an overlay), and then either paint it black or a Metallic silver. But ya, here is a picture of my interior, and a picture of my truck so you know what colour the paint is. If you have any ideas of your own feel free to try them out. Thanks in advance!

Awesome. Thanks man! The body colour match actually looks a lot better than I thought it would. I like the carbon fiber a bit better, but that would be a lot harder to do, and would also probably be more expensive. Hmmm... Now to make a decision. Ha ha.

 

Just buy the FX-4 interior pieces, then you will have the black and it will still look factory.

 

Ya, they actually come in carbon fiber too. I didn't realize that until just a few minutes ago. But then I would assume it would be at least 500 dollars from the dealership, where as a can of spray paint and clear coat would be about 5 bucks. I could also search junkyards, but then I assume it would be difficult finding one that also has the automatic climate control. So imma call the dealership and see what an actual price is, and then go from there. Because I don't dislike it enough to drop 500 into a couple pieces of plastic.

 

Just buy a carbon fiber look vinyl and wrap it. Or send the pieces off and have them film dipped which is what they did to achieve the "wood" look. It would look much more factory if you had it film dipped as most things are now "painted" that way. Relatively inexpensive also. Google it.

 

have you tried any junk yards? Sometimes they are gold mines.

I haven't tried any junkyards yet. Because I just started thinking about this. Ha ha. So when I get on days off I think I'll be giving a couple a call. I looked into that film dipping, and that would be a nice way to go, but for just the center piece it would be about 75 bucks. Not counting all my other little ones. I'll have to keep looking. And as for the vinyl wrap, I don't think I have the patience/steady handedness to cut my own and put it on to look good.

Nobman, yes I did say if you have ideas then feel free to try them. But that's awful. Ha ha ha.
