Default Payload Question

Hi all,

Quick question (again):

Let's say I have 5 people in my truck (200 lbs x 5) = 1000 lbs.

How much payload can I have in the bed?

Truck is a 2009 XLT SuperCrew 3:55 gears 5.4L 6.5ft bed

Thanks!

payload has nothing to do with how many people are in the truck. i would be more worried about what class plates you have on the truck, i see guys with B class plates on f150's all the time, i run C, not worth a huge ticket to save 20 bucks a year, well in WI that the difference anyways.

Thanks ATOM,

Does your answer imply that I can have as many people in the cab and it won't affect the Payload rating?

The Payload on my truck is 1500 lbs. Therefore, if I have 1000 lbs (5 guys) in the cab, I was under the impression I then only had 500 lbs available in the bed?

Is that correct?

P.S. I don't run a lot of weight in my bed, but I definitely don't want it to be over the recommended weight. My buddies want me to help move stove oil in jerry cans and I basically said that we can only bring 500 lbs worth (as we will have 5 guys in the truck @ 1000 lbs).

I say, who cares! I have a Class A license meaning I can drive anything over 26,000 pounds, plus a few endorsements like double/triple, and tanker. I would not worry about being pulled over in your personal vehicle for overweight unless you have a DOT sticker on the side of your door. Also, speaking as a prior police officer, bigger fish to fry! I'd waive and cruise past you.

your payload is still 1500#, now under the right circumstances, you could be over you plate limit and if stopped, one hefty ticket.

take your plate limit - truck weight-occupants-extra stuff in it-fuel--payload and tongue weight if you are towing
