Park brake failure?
I’ve never had this push buttton electric parking brake. Ignoring the fact that after 47 years of driving I still jab my left foot on a brake pedal that isn’t there, my question is, how reliable/sure fire is this system?
Reason I ask is I spend a fair amount of time behind my truck on a steep boat ramp loading and unloading a boat. We’ve all heard or read about some poor soul in that position when his truck somehow released and rolled back.
Has anyone heard of, experienced, or know of any parking brake failures with the electric brake servo, or whatever actuates the brake?

I hear you my friend...there was always that satisfaction one would get when depressing the parking brake pedal, FEELING it tension up under your foot. My 2020 screams at me occasionally about "parking brake malfunction - service NOW", yet seems to 'fix' itself hours/minutes/days later without anything being done, lol! I've had the dealership mechanics look at it, they say it's fine. I don't trust it at the boat ramp though...keep a wheel chock just in case.
Well that gives me pause… Yeah, I always liked to put some pressure on that brake & it’s easy to check if it’s holding before putting it in Park. Who knows with a button how “tight” it is? I guess you could still do that, let off pressure from main pedal to make sure it’s holding but who knows if it could possibly release.
I usually carry my chock with me just in case, so I guess I should use ‘em when I’m by myself.

Failure of the e-parking brake is not much different conceptually than failure of a manual parking brake--i.e., the cable snaps--and either can happen. Both mechanical and electric glitches are part of the vehicle ownership experience. I've owned and ramped many boats and I think if it were me, I'd simply avoid putting myself in harm's way when doing boat pre- or post-launch chores.
Oh absolutely! But there are those brief times when it’s unavoidable such as unhooking/hooking the winch strap, boarding to back it off the trailer and vice versa. Everything else is done before or after being on the actual ramp.
My electric parking brake works great and never gives me issues. I mostly only use it with the camper.
My old manual parking brake on my 2008 didn’t hold very well and seemed to have issues from day one. It was used every time I parked as the truck was a 5 speed manual.
