Technically they ARE insulated - but with an air barrier, not some other common form of insulation. However, your point is well made, and supports what I said in an earlier post.

Yeti stuff is expensive, but it's good stuff. Right now, the coolers are still a "special needs" item in my opinion ... they are VERY heavy, and pretty expensive too ... but if you are on a boat, or in a location where you don't have access to more ice, you need your ice to stay frozen as long as you possibly can - and that's where the Yeti coolers rule the world.

I may go ahead and get one of the cups they have out now to "supplement" my Tervis cups. If it impresses as much as I think it will, I'll still hold off a while to see if they make any upgrades to the lids so that you can actually seal the cup shut (to stop spillage and/or keep the unit even more insulated). Hopefully they are already working on this ... it's hard for me to imagine that they plan on just keeping that little clear plastic, single-ply lid when the rest of the cup is so "robust" in comparison.

Understood. Its an easy thing for me to justify. A $20 Tervis compared to a $35 Yeti that works 100% better is money well spent to me. Everyone who has the Yeti cups say the same. To each his own but I wont buy another Tervis.

We are on the same page. The only reason I haven't bought a Yeti cup yet is because I have a whole arsenal of Tervis tumblers/lids/straws ... and for what I need them for, they work fine.

The Yeti cup has a better "cool" factor (no pun intended) ... and may very well be worth getting at least one to play with for now - which I'm pretty sure I'll do.

You wont regret it. I got rid of at least 8-10 Tervis cups in exchange for 2 Yeti cups. I've given several as gifts as well. They will make a believer out of you.

I use my Yeti cups primarily for whisky/Coke. Would be a bit expensive to use your 2 gallon cooler for that. But hey, if you are into that go ahead. Obviously, these are 2 items for different purposes. Cant compare

A 2 gallon whiskey and coke? That's not too uncommon here in Wisconsin.

Don't judge. I'm savoring it, not chugging it.
