Default Painted Ford sign.

Pic from a nearby town called Dallas City Illinois. Local told me the dealership has been closed more than 20 years. I’d guess the sign is older. Shadow of the pole ruined the pic a little bit but for some reason the painted sign always jumps out at me.

I love when towns preserve these old painted buildings. Thanks for sharing.

I hand painted many a sign, including wall *******. That one is fairly new and not easy to do with the surface.

Just a guess on my part, but I'd say the sign is over 30 years old. They haven't done anything to perserve it. I'd say thats more luck and a good job when it was first done. I peaked in the window of the place and it looks like it might still have quite a bit of stuff inside. Hard to say if there is anything of value in there or not. Probably be tough but might be possible ot get a pic of my truck next to it, when I took the pic I'm either standing on or near some railroad tracks.

The sun is hitting it in the photo. Take the best auto paint job in the world, park it outside for thirty years, what do you suppose it will look like. Ever lettered a rough texture? Not much luck involved.

Cool sign! Wish we could see what it looked like back in its day!

Maybe that good ol' lead based paint holds up better? lol

Used tons of it myself. Sign enamels have uv blockers but they will still fade if they get uvs. It could be 10 years old but not original. I wish more were like it, here we get lad acid trip looking murals. Nothing normal is permitted.
