Also many people think that vehicles didn't get rock chips until recently. Which is ludicrous.

My dealer pulled the paperwork and showed me My vin was 2 numbers off the vin list they had. Don't know why had numbers before mine a gap of about 300 numbers and had more listed, mine was in the gap

When I drove a vehicle out to Colorado in mid winter, I found out what paint chips were. They were using ground up pink granite for road sand. They don't use salt like we do but, they are not afraid to use some rock. I bet I had a good 2k chips on the front of the newer truck (and a cracked windshield). Oh, and a small piece of plastic broke out of the grill.

I just got the new grille I have on my truck now. Painted it, came out mint. Driving home, person about 75 yards in front of me on the highway listed lazily to the right. Passenger wheels hit the shoulder. Kicked up a **** load of rocks. Pelted the front of my truck. Got away with only 3 chips on my new grille. This was in the spring. Chips happen

Still the factory windshield in the 2006 F150, no pits or cracks. Front end shows no signs of chips in the grill, bumper pad, bumper nor hood. 9yr old truck and still looks practically new up front.
You usually notice these types of front ends on cars that like to tailgate or ride too close to others in snowy/icy conditions. While one or two, or even a few are bound to happen, those with excessive road rash on the front ends are from following to close.

Don't ride peoples ***** then. Have lived in CO all my life, minus 2yrs, and know what you talk about with the road sand/rocks.

Edit :
Hell this is the parking lot of my bank, that I'm at right now. There's tar under the gravel. Cheap way to repair the lot, they do it on the roads too. Tar sticks to your tires with gravel in it. Doesn't let go until you are above 50 mph, person behind you gets rock chips

Not always. You don't have to ride someone's butt to get that. Lots of highway driving will do it. Small rocks kicked up from someone in front of you can travel really far at 65-80 mph. Even if you are 20 car lengths behind them. Especially with gravel like they do in my area.
Now I know the poster was exaggerating when he said 2K, but either way, even with such materials, you're not going to get excessive chips in the front in such a short time unless you are riding too close.

Don't disagree, as I stated at times you may get a few. But unless you're on someone's rear constantly or riding too close, you're not going to get 2K chips in the front end from your only travel to the state.

Edit: never mind, I see it now
