I don’t know. Why wouldn’t I see aluminum instead of the black paint. I’m thinking maybe it was touch up painted at some point

 

Not rocks all concentrated at the leading edges adjacent to a gap that just happens to be at a door. Could be someone got locked out two years ago and someone used a slim jim to get in?

 

For me, its a failed attempt to fix the chips caused by an attempted entry, JMO. When I bought my black 08 years ago used, the sales person made a comment about how good the hood looked. I paid no attention at the time. Some time later, I found out that some one had made an attempt to touch up lots of rock dings on the hood that had now re surfaced.

While an eyesore now that you have found them, you can fix those better and forget about them with the correct paint chip repair kit.

 

I think you're right. Thoughts on the best touch up paint repair kit? I was looking at touch up direct primer/paint combo on Amazon. or if you can point me in the right direction on here for a thread about paint chip repair kits.
