Question Overheating possible consequences

Hi, last night I had an overheating trouble, because of a broken belt (damaged bullet mold), today in the morning the problem was fixed and apparently the truck works very well, but the "Service engine soon" light does not disappear anymore. A new visit to the garage is definitive (maybe other garage), but any suggestion about what more to check before?

Thank you for your help.

The oil light, or check engine light?
I'm not familiar with the "Service engine soon" light, what year is your truck

Do the oil change first - oil changes it's characteristics when overheated. After that it will be good to replace a head gasket - it's probably damaged of close. And check the head bottom surface for lineing - the head is the most overheating sensitive engine part, it can get malformed.

It´s a 4.2L 2003 F-150 truck, "Service engine soon" is the same to "check engine".

Already check and it doesn't seems it is leaking oil (neither bottom nor above of the head), the oil pressure looks normal too.

Ok, oil and head gasket changes are on way.

It may start leaking into the cooling system or cylinders or both - there are some leaking options in that case. I guess that reading the codes is not a bas idea also. May be the ECU needs only error codes erasing, may be there's something else ir wrong. but it's usially only mechanical problems after overheating. Don't forget to check the head while you'll get your gasked replaced. I hope that there'll be no serious troubles after everything will be done.
