Lightbulb Overdrive Switch/Shifter Question

Hi All,

First:
Does anyone have information on how the overdrive switch works? I wonder if it works as a typical electric single poll/single throw. Or if the switch communicates data?

Second:
I am interested in switching my 07' F150 gear shifter in the center console, with an 07' Explorer.
As my 07' F150 overdrive switch is located in the bezel of the gear indicator. The 07' Explorer has the overdrive switch located on the side of the gear shifter.
Does anyone know if the gear shift handles are interchangable? I went to my local Ford dealer and got the schematic and part numbers for each.

Lastly,
If the Overdrive switch is an electric switch and the shifter from the Explorer fits on the F150, then I'll have a stealth switch.

Any input provided is appreciated.
Thanks,
-Tung

After further research, and assistance from Domenic of Tasca, it does not appear the shift handles are interchangable.

The rod that comes up through the console, appears to connect different between the two models.

Perhaps, I might swallow the $65 in parts for the Explorer shifter and see if I could retro the button into the F150....
