Default Over Drive Switch

I started driving and seen the off for the over drive blinking at me and I couldn't turn it off. It didn't seem to have any rime or reason to when it blinks or doesn't. I may be creating issues however I think I felt the trans slipping a little during these blinking episodes. Has anyone delt with this and may know the cause and solution ?

When the over drive switch blinks it usually has something to do with a transmission failure/problem....

When driving in Virginia mountains turned overdrive off to slow truck going down grade, After coming to a stop transmission was slipping so bad I had to use emergency brake to keep from rolling backwards. Had to have tow to nearest dealer, they said govenor cellenoid had stuck and clutches had burned up. Truck has 7800 miles, once several months before truck went in to neutral while in mountains then corrected.

yeah unfortunately I hate to say it but blinking o/d light usually means you're going to be going to a transmission shop sooner than later.

Usually means overdrive solenoid is having problems, I would try a trans filter kit and flush. If that dosen't, take it to a trusted shop and have them scan the trans for trouble codes

How many miles are on the truck? Dont flush if it is more than 50k. Usually that just ends up breaking stuff loose and causing problems.
