Out of State Purchase and Transport
I am looking at left-over 2018 in a particular configuration and the ones that Ford has found are over 1000 miles away. Has anyone ever bought out of state and had the vehicle shipped to you home state?

I bought mine in Virginia, dealer did all the paper work, paid the taxes and registered it in my state although I did drive up and pick it up.

Keep in mind that dealers advertise with the rebates that apply where they are located. You will get the rebates that apply where the truck is going to be registered. So, that amazing price may be much different if you live in a state without some big rebates.

Plus shipping cost...

I always buy out of town. Kansas City for some reason believes they can charge more for their cars, like a lot more. I saved $7K on my 2011 limited and just recently almost $13K on my 18 Limited. If you aren't trading in and it doesn't seem reasonable to drive, buy a one way plane ticket on SW and fly out there. Salesman can pick you up at the airport and you get to see, feel and touch your new purchase before you get in it and drive back home...Other than tacking on mileage to your new baby that plane ticket is usually gonna be cheaper than transport fees...

I have bought a few cars out of state. Bought one of my Mustangs that way and had shipped from Florida to Iowa. Nice thing is that you don't pay tax in your state until you go register it and get your plates for it. Shipping is a racket and can get expensive.

I had mine delivered right to my house. Dealer should be able to get you some freight quotes. Figure about $1k for your distance.

You can also have them work the tax into the deal. They just "add" the amount you want them too, literally whatever it is you want and then along with your title work they will send you a check for that amount which you just deposit and then hand over to the DMV. Caution though, if you don't bring this up and think your deal is sweeter than ever, consider that tax you will get charged when you register the vehicle. In KS it's almost 10% which is a load of BS if you ask me but it is what it is.

I think if it was me--for the price of delivery--I'd look for a cheap one-way ticket, do a fly-n-drive to the dealer location, and have an enjoyable road trip back home.
Gotta be something of interest in this great big beautiful country between your pick-up and destination!

Thanks for the replies. The truck is about 1700 miles away and just looking online the shipping estimates are around $1000.00. Still working out the details using my incentives and if I can get to where I want the shipping would be worth it.
