hello this is my first time to this forum but not to ford trucks never had an f150 but i've had 2 f100 trucks just got one and it needs ALOT of work to be cherry. this thing will beat the ground before im done with it though. while im here i might as well bring up my first question:
this truck needs a new engine due to the one thats in it has a rod knock. this is a 302 with a granny box. i have 2 runners siitin in the yard that are ready to be swapped in: a d-code 400 or a c code 302. thew 400 out of a smog dog ltd from california, and the 302 has similar emissions equipment on it so i figure its from the same bracket performance wise. my questions are these:
1. what are your opinions on these motors? (i know most of you would opt for the 302) and if i were to choose the 400 would the granny box bolt up?
(i absolutely HAVE to use a standard tranny, autos just bore me).
2. is there anyway i could mate a 5-speed to that 400?
on the bright side, its already got a 9-inch
