Default The one that got away

Went to Barrett Jackson last week and this is the one truck I really wanted. Stayed in the bidding until the mid 30's but it went for 50k. Thinkin' I should have done it, sure was a nice truck. http://www.barrett-jackson.com/appli...&aid=443&pop=0

Put that money towards a Porsche GT3.

PS: I actually have a good question, for you. Eventually, when I get settled down, and am ready to go to auctions, what should I be aware of? Give me a list of tips. Best places to go? Entrance fees? Are there always better deals? How often do you find the car you want? Thanks in advance, for any "auction" knowledge you give me.

Auctions are fun to go to, but pretty much the worst place to buy a car, if you're looking for any kind of a bargain. My partner has been buying and selling classic cars for 40 years and by far, you'll do better doing things like going to local shows, asking lots of questions, getting involved in discussion groups for particular cars you're interested in. He recently picked up a fantastic Hupmobile for 15k and a great model a pickup for 6k.
Keep your ears open, shop around and don't be in a hurry and you'll find bargains.

I have an absolute disdain for these bastards!!!!!!!!!!! They are solely responsible for the outrageous prices commanded for classic cars their greed and control of the market makes me sick . The average person which is 99% of us will never be able own our favorite classic car ...

Case in point the "OP"

Ummm, the market sets the prices. Autos are worth what people will pay for them. Get the socialism out of your system, dude.

I agree it's a bummer not to be able to afford many of these cars, but envy is not cool.

What's that supposed to mean?

Anyway, BJ as mentioned above, is not a place to get a good deal. I think you are also subject to a buyer's premium of 10% more than the winning bid to cover the autioneer's fees.
