Oil change discrepancy?
Long story short, I have my truck at the dealership for some issues, and they question how often I get my oil changed since there is no sticker in the window. I told them that I don't use the sticker since my 2017 F150 has the electronics that tell me when the oil life is done and needs to be changed. I'm then told that factory settings are wrong- in every F150 along with all other vehicles they offer. The life is 7500-10,000 miles according to the factory preset, and the manual supposedly says every 5000 miles, and the dealership states that the turbo will burn up if it's only done every 10k and they "tell everyone" to get oil changes at 5000. I'm super confused and frustrated that the company would do this, and if there is an issues down the road with my truck, I need to produce paperwork for the oil changes before Ford will fix any future issues. Has anyone heard of this???
Sounds like they are practicing their Halloween scare tactics on you.
Follow the electronic dash indication or read your manual. You say they stated the 2017 manual says to change oil at 5K miles. Did you look or are you taking everything they say as fact?
The manual says to follow the intelligent oil life monitor....and;
