I would just go get a Motorcraft filter, change just the filter, then top the oil off.

Good advice here.

Unless you're an engineer and know these trucks and their drive-train characteristic as well as Ford Motor Company does, Be it a filter or oil, I don't think anyone here knows enough about engine oil technology to be able to discern the differences in any commercially manufactured product that meets Ford Motor Company recommended specifications.

Buy some Motorcraft (Ford) filters and use those. You can do like the previous guy said and just swap out that Fram for the Ford one.

Ricktwuhk - I always use Fram filters.
It's your $$$$$ (Motorcraft oil filters are typically less) and your engine .....

Over the years, I've cut open many a filter to compare, and those orange ones are definitely built cheap. They sell millions of them, so pretty sure it will still filter the oil. Fram does have other filters, but they are not orange.

Here's some trivia.....on Fram's website, the "extra guard" quotes.......Engineered for Conventional Motor Oil. Isn't that strange?

Funny you order the most expensive oil and they give you the cheapest filter?
Change out filter and you'll sleep better.
