Can anyone here explain in detail offset and back spacing. And dumb it down a little bit. I've seen graphics and what not, but I seriously don't understand it at all.

Offset is the distance of the flush end of the bolt area (the part that would marry up with the wheel hub on the truck) from the centerline of the wheel. Backspacing is the distance of that same spot from the imaginary plane created by the inside edge of the wheel. Pretty hard to explain this with words. It's much easier to look at a diagram, but you said you've seen those already.

Ok check this out

"rear spacing" in this pic is backspacing. Also in this pic, the wheel is facing to the right. So the part you would see if you looked at your truck is facing the right.

The more backspacing the more the wheels will tuck in under the wheelwells. For offset the more positive it is the more they will tuck. For comparison purposes will use 17x9 wheels. One has 4.5 inches of backspacing and a -12 offset, the other has 5.5 inches of bs and a +12 offset. The 4.5 wheels would stick out a total of 1 inch and 24mm further than the other wheels. The inch from difference in backspacing and the 24mm difference in offset as offset is in mm. Not sure what stock specs are on a 95 to give u recommendations.

I have a 2004 4x4 with a 2" leveling kit. I have found a set of rims at a good price that are 17x9 with a 4.5 inch backset. I contacted the local tire place and they said that they would rub. Will these rims work on my truck and what size tire would look good, and will they stick out so far that they are unattractive. Thanks..
