Default Odometer and trip meter reset to zero

This morning I get in my 2002 Ford F150 and the odometer and trip meter went to zero. In the window of the trip meter it looks like a "t" on the left hand side. The trip meter can be zero'd out if I hit the button and they both are now calculating mileage. Any ideas on the cause and fix? There are no codes that could be downloaded and I have no "service engine soon" lite. New to the forum so thanks in advance.

Is that 't' there to indicate tampering?

Well I didn't tamper with it thats for sure and my friends say the same thing about adding a few more miles and selling it.

I am just particular about the truck and wondered if it could be a wiring or electronic thing. Most have never heard of this problem so I figured I would try here.

I have had quite a bit of work done on the truck recently and wondered also if it had something to do with that. All the stuff that would give me the warm fuzzy about the truck - brakes, tune up, filters, etc. I just bought it about 6 months ago. It has (had-lol) only 74,000 miles when I bought it. Really kept up well.

Thanks.

Well then....congrats on the new truck! I imagine someone will be along soon with some real insight on a possible cause...and or solution.
