Default odometer question

I have a 2000 Ford F150 7700. For the last year the odometer disappears then reappears. it does keep count of the miles when it disappears but is kinda annoying. I have had this truck since 03 and even though the body is going to hell it runs great and I just was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what they did to fix it.

There are also listings on E-bay where people can fix your cluster if you are afraid to work on it. But, it seems to be cheaper to look for a cluster with similar mileage.
