Default Odd size tires

I have a 2000 F150 4x4 with 285/70/17 BF Goodrich All-Terrains and was wondering if it would cause harm to place a smaller set - 265/70/17 - on the front. The only reason I am considering this is because the front are worn out while the rear are in great shape. I came across a good deal on the smaller size on Craigslist.

Do not. If it was 2 wheel drive you'd be fine, or if you absolutely NEVER engaged 4x4. If you put it in 4x4 with different size tires up front, it's gonna throw off the gearing and there's a good chance you're gonna FUBAR something and it won't be pretty.
