Default No Headlights Notification on Dash?

I'm new to the forums, so forgive my ignorance on how these work, but thought I'd post here.

I own a 2014 F150 XLT. Great truck! We also own a 2013 Fusion Energi. Great car!

My question regards the truck, of course. I noticed that there is no light on the dashboard that indicates if your headlights are on or not. First time I've owned a car and not had this light. I have the automatic lights, and of course there are times I can tell when they're on. However, when driving through a tunnel, I wasn't sure if they had come on or not. It was well lit, and made it hard to tell. Also, at dusk it would be great to know when they're on and when they're not.

So, just curious as to why Ford would exclude this notification on the dash? It does include a notification for high beams.

Thanks!

I agree.

I covered the light sensor so mine are always on.

Someone mentioned in another thread that the fog lights have an indicator so if you leave them on you'll know.

Welcome to the forum. Post some info about your ride.

Other than having the dash lights lit when the lights are on, I have NEVER owned any FLM vehicle that provided that function.

I agree...I never know as well...in my '13. In my other cars, its apparent when the lights are on as my infotainment screens (lcd) change color. In the truck however theres no change. I find myself pulling the **** for the fog lights out to see if the little emblem is lit, if it is, I know my lights are on. Wonder if this is the same in the 2015...seems like its in need of a fix.

Ford should take a few lessons from the Germans.

My wifes 2014 Explorer has an indicator on the dash that lights up when the headlights are on.
The headlights also come on when you turn on the windshield wipers. Wish my truck did that.

That's an interesting way of doing it. May have to try it out. Do you just not leave your lights set to on because they don't turn off right away when turning the engine off?

And, it's a 2014 XLT 4X4 6.5 SuperCab - 3.5L V6 EcoBoost - "Blue Jeans".
