Default No Check Eng Light...

I reside in Phoenix, Az where the first step of emissions is checking for a Check Eng Light...and of course mine is not coming on. I have a 2000 F-150 Extended cab, short bed, flair side i recently picked up at auction. Pulled cluster, checked board, replaced a few bulbs, all good. Checked fuses n relays, no issues. If previous owner cut wires, are there particular colors I should be looking for? All other lights come on as they should just not the ONE I need. Can anybody shine a light my way?

You might want to post what year, model, engine size, trim level etc.... as it stands your question will go unanswered.

go to autozone and have them pull the codes if you don't have a code reader.

I'm management at O'Reilly, scanner won't tell you if a dash light is out.

No, but it will tell you if there are any codes being set, regardless of whether or not the indicator light works. Unless they are actually checking to see if the check engine light fires up at all.
