Default Newbie with a Trans Question

So this weekend I killed the trans. Yep, got it hot enough to weld the plates inside together while trying to pull out some highschoolers in a snow drift. I can either go with a reman. ford tranny for around 2500 or a Jasper with lots of up grades, as they claim. Both have 3yr/100,000 mile warrnty. Any suggestions as which one you would go with? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I would first find out how I got the tranny that hot and fix that. Jasper and Ford are both reputable. If you go to the dealer you may get some brownie points for using them. If Jasper is cheaper I would use them. Make sure the cooler lines are flushed out or replaced. I see a tranny temp gage in your future.

TheJMC, I'm pretty sure I know why it got that hot, not sure why a warning light didn't come on. Trans had 160,000 hard miles on it. It also has 305-70-18 on it too. Really had to get on it to get them out. Guess i should have used my gut instinct when it told me not too.

A warning light is like a fire alarm. It tells you after the fire is started. A gage will give you advance notice and you can then back off. Next time if you have it use 4lo till you get gears.
