Newbie Towing Question
Hi, not sure if this is the correct forum for this question, but I am sure someone will soon steer me right.
I am in the process of purchasing my first truck.
It is a new F-150 Lariat Supercrew 4x2 5.4 with 3.55 LSD, 20in wheels, 6 speed auto, with all the goodies including tow package, trailer brake controller, trailer sway control and 4 pin wiring.
I have been offered the use of an Airstream Safari LS 22ft Travel Trailer, and I need to know that the truck will be ok hauling this.
F-150 Specs
Kerb Wt. - 5,295 lbs.
GVWR - 7,300 lbs.
Max Payload - 1870 lbs.
Towing capacity - 8500 lbs.
Airstream Specs
Kerb Wt. - 4190 lbs.
GVWR - 5600 lbs
So if both truck kerb wt. of 5295 lbs and towing capacity of 8500 lbs, then bare GCVWR equals 15,800 lbs.
With the Airstream at 4190 lbs bare and the truck at 5295 lbs bare, then the 9485 lbs. GCVWR total should be well within the trucks abilities.
Of course that changes once you add people, fuel, gas bottles and other stuff.
Question is, that is this arrangement well within the truck's capabilities?
Cheers
