newbie here
I'm a first-time ford owner after driving toyotas my entire life...
I'm really happy with my 2006 FX4 Supercrew, but I'm pretty bummed that they don't make fender flares for the flareside model. I can't find them anywhere, nor can the local accessories shop.
Aside from that, I have two questions:
1--Does anyone know a successful method for disarming the seatbelt alert (tried the unbluckle 3X's, headlights on and off, 3 more times, wait...one more time...but it doesn't work).
2--Is there a link on how to pull off the center of the dash? I bought the truck used with a professional install of a cell phone booster, but it works with only verizon phones. I wanted to pull it out and swap with a cingular amp.
Any help would be appreciated.
Btw, I've always driven toyotas for their reliability, but they're just not desinged for the 'working man.' Ford has really taken into account the 'working man's' needs, particularly with the interior design. Loving the truck so far...as are the chicadees.

Welcome
1) Turn the key to the on position without starting
2) Wait for the seat belt light to turn off (1 min)
3) In under 90 sec. buckle and unbuckle your seat belts 9 times
4) The seat belt light will flash 3 times then buckle and unbuckle once more to complete the process
5) The seal belt light will flash one more time to confirm action
I took off my center dash on the 2009 so I could see how to install my new Nav system but I don’t know if the older models are similar. Here is how I did mine.
First I remove the rubber long rectangular pad on top of the dash. It should come right off. You should see two sets of screws, they are 7mm. Unscrew these will loosen the top of the console.
Then open the ash tray you will find clips above the tray. You can use your fingers to push these clips in. This will allow you to remove the rectangular cover right above the ash tray exposing two more 7mm screws. Once you unscrew those the trim on the sides of the dash panel can be pulled out.
There are 3 snap clips on each side, it is easier to remove the bottom first and work your way up to the top. From there it should be easy to remove other items.
Good Luck.

Its very simple to get that trim off. I took a plastic trim tool (you can use a wide flathead screwdriver but cover it with something soft so you dont scratch it) and wedged it into the top of the trim where it meets the top tray. There are two clips- one on each side that will pop out. Once you get those two, work your way down the sides. Should be about 3 more per side. Each one is rather strong and it will feel like you are about to break this peice so be easy. They will come off, I promise. be sure you unplug the connector at the very top of the trim surround for the passenger airbag indicator light.
