New (to the truck) engine.
So, I have a 94 XLT 5.0 2 wheel drive. I'm gonna need to put another engine in her in the next year or so. I bought her a few months ago with 207,000 miles, and right now she's got 213,000. She's got the 5.0 EFI Mustang engine in her right now, and I like the power she's got. What engine should I look for to replace the one I have?

My apologies, my roommate typed this for me and she assumed 5.0 always meant Mustang. It's the 5.0 EFI. I already only get about 13mpg, 15 on a REALLY good day, and my concern with putting in a 6.2 is that I will get worse mileage. I'd like to replace it with something the same or better. Since you mentioned it, and I am an infant to Ford trucks, can you tell me a little about the 5.0 variations? Thank you.
You can't just drop a 6.2 or any modular motor in there for that matter that easy. It'd take lots of fab, wiring, and everything to get it to fit. That being Said if you want a more efficient motor an yet one that can be had cheap and many harnesses and standalone units are readily available for, go with a 4.6.
It's gonna take some work, custom motor mounts and tranny mount but you could take the motor and trans out of a crown Vic or mustang.
I'm suggesting this because its about the only cost effective motor swap or upgrade you could do vs just putting in another 5.0. A 6.2 or anything like that is so unreasonable, putting a $12k motor in a $3000 truck. If you did that you might as well just buy a newer truck. However you could swap a 4.6 for around $1500 maybe cheaper depending what deals you can find
