New owner
Hello. I just bought a 1995 Ford F150 today, and wanted to ask the "pros" a few questions.
Truck has 135,000 miles, is 6cyl., no a/c, automatic trans. w/overdrive, no power windows. I paid $950 after driving it and finding that this thing runs like a champ. Did I get an okay deal?
It is 2wd and a friend said don't bother taking it out into the snow, it will be useless. Is this true?
The truck looks great except for some rust. I have read conflicting opinions on the gas mileage, so anyone who can give me an idea.
Okay, that's enough for a newbie, thanks in advance for any help.

At $950 I would not be concerned if I got a good deal. At that price if it runs it is a good deal. Depends what kind of shape it is in. Even though I think you did good.
If you have good tires you should be okay in snow. I hear about people getting into some pretty crazy stuff here with just 2WD and not getting stuck. But be careful since if you get stuck you will not have the 4x4 to help you out of a jam.
What do you mean conflicting opinions on gas mileage? Do you mean what you think is reasonable for the truck?
Welcome to the site, also.

Yes, you make a good point, for $950 it is a very good deal. Actually the reason I was asking was because I was kind of blown away by the truck. It doesn't look perfect (some rust over the back wheel areas, etc.). As I said, no a/c, roll-up windows--but started perfect, no smoke. Drove beautifully and I was kind of surprised since I never had a Ford 150 before, and had heard pros and cons. Then did some research and heard that the inline 6 engine is somewhat legendary and known to go 350,000 miles without problems (YMMV).
Question about MPG was that some people say 12-15 mpg and some say 17-20 mpg, so I was just wondering. Anyway, she needs a couple of tires right away but other than that, ready to roll and haul what I need, and hopefully make me some money.

I would say that both estimates on mileage can be true, just depends on driving style, location and type of driving... As for the price, I was told once that any vehicle that can pass smog (California smog check), runs and drives straight is worth about $1200 or more, pretty much sums up my opinion about worth of most vehicles I think...
