Default New and Improved Rules of the Road

Not strictly related to trucks but ........

My top favorites in descending priority.

1. When your stopped at a 4 way stop sign if you see another vehicle approaching and about to make their own stop, always wait until they get to their own stop sign before you finally decide to go. This is especially helpful to all other drivers.

2. Do anything and everything you can to make the guy behind you have to slow down (brake for no reason, last minute lane changes, fake lane changes, etc.)

3. Always merge onto the freeway going 35 mph (max) and immediately swerve into the fast lane thereby making everyone slow down for you. Then proceed in the fast lane at no more than 55 mph.

4. Always leave a gap the size of a football field in front of you when in bumper to bumper freeway rush hour traffic.

5. Always try to cram yourself into a busy intersection so that when the opposite light turns green no one can go.

Lets see some of your favorite Rules of the Road.

when the lane obstruction is in your lane on a 2 lane highway, you do not have the right to use the other lane to go around the obstruction when there is oncoming traffic! it is your obligation to yield to oncoming traffic before traveling into the opposing lane.

Always use the left lane as the cursing lane while interstate driving, and make everyone go around you when they possibly can.

Always eat breakfast & smoke a cig. & text at the same time while driving to work.

The distance that I leave in front of me for safe driving at 65-70 mph in the left lane is there for you to take and then hit your brakes so I have to slow down to 60!

When not wanting to wait in a long line in the turning lane, pass all those waiting in the turn lane in the straight traffic lane. Stop at the solid green light with your blinker on and wait to pull directly in front of those in the turn lane with the right away, making those behind you wait to proceed ahead.

I do believe you have made a subconsciously correct typo!

For me, I have generally learned what are not necessarily rules of the road, but are instead rules that drivers in particular midwestern states tend to follow:
  1. Minnesota drivers simply can't maintain their vehicle within the lines. The lines denoting a lane are merely suggestions.

  2. Wisconsin drivers do not understand the purpose of the left-hand lane (it's a passing lane) - it is instead viewed as their own personal lane on which no one else travels. They do not get over. Ever.

  3. Iowa drivers are a mix: they don't maintain their lane, they don't move over when in the left lane, plus they have their own special Iowan trait: they always drive approximately 5 mph below the stated speed limit. And they just can't fathom why anyone would want to go faster than that.

I've also spent a lot of time in Florida; it's where I grew up:
  • Florida drivers are generally sociopathic. They would just as soon shoot you as look at you. These traits are exacerbated in the heat of summer. Add to that their "stand your ground" law - wherein you are lawfully permitted to shoot to kill anyone who you think might cause you harm - what could possibly go wrong?
