My wife has a MDX, it has a 300+ HP V6 and weighs 4669lbs, she frequently has 3-4 adults in there, making it easily 5200lbs.

I have a 2012 F150 ecoboost, 5400 lbs per ford. I am almost always in it by myself when I'm driving.

The MDX lifetime avg of 17.8 MPG
The F150 has a lifetime MPG avg of 12.2 MPG

I've driven the MDX many times and if anything I drive it harder, because it's a more sporty ride.

It's not the driver, but I can say at least for MY truck the mileage SUCKS compared with what other similarly powered and weighted vehicles I have owned. And with gas at $4/gal it's not an inconsequential thing.

I don't know what the cD for the MDX is, but I can guarantee that it's far lower than the F-series.

Aero combined with weight makes a large difference.

postal - my point is just that the mdx gets very close to what it was rated for, whereas my F150 is getting about 50% under EPA rating.

that pisses me off. I really think there's something wrong with mine, but I doubt the dealer will even care to check or have any way of checking.

20 MPG HIGHWAY. How much city driving is in that mix? That can ruin MPG in a hurry.

It's still rated for 16 city. The 12 he is getting is way below that.

Yes but 16 is based off stop lights, not gridlock.

most of my driving is in small town, no gridlock. 12 is not even close to 16 and I drive very soft on accelerator.
