Default New and full of questions

hey folks im new to the forum and full of questions..first of all im looking for a f-150 i want a flareside 5.4 fx4.. could somone tell me what was the last year they made the flareside in canada? i want a fx4 because i plan on using a sled deck and carrying 2 ski-doos on the truck.. i was told that fx4 would have strong leafs springs and shocks and would be my best option. correct me if there is another modle thats just as good.. another thing is i want a stong rear end for maybe a lift kit down the road..what size rear end does the fx4 have? 8.8/9? sorry for the questions guys but i am looking to buy a truck and this is what i am aiming towards just want to make sure this model wil be good for what i want..thanks in advanced

How much does your sled deck and each ski-doo weigh? I would think you're easily looking at 1600-1700 lbs for that setup, so a 1/2 ton truck is going to be a stretch. That's close to the max payload for any model, so you're not going to have any room for other stuff in the bed, cab, etc.

If I were hauling two sleds regularly, I would look into buying a trailer to tow with an F-150, or buy an F-250 instead.

2 sled and my deck will be around 1300lbs max. i only haul the sleds for 2 kms and it maybe only twice a month so i not gonna do much damage. i will use my trailer for long runs.. i was just wondering what model f150 would be the best ex: xlt,stx,fx4 etc.

In that case, it shouldn't matter much. The XLT, FX4, etc are just trim packages. The suspension will be pretty much the same between them.

I don't think the HD payload or max towing packages are necessary if your total payload is 1300 lbs and just a few miles every now and then. The base model truck will be plenty strong enough so pick the trim level based on your price range and what features you want.

The fx4s have the same leaf springs as the 4x4s with offroad shocks

what size rear end is in the fx4 flareside 5.4l 2005-2008?? is this rear end good enough for big tires (37") and a lift later on down the road? i thought that fx4 had skid plates under tansfer case and had heavier suspensions.. in that case if they are all the same i can just look for a falreside 5.4l and it should be just as good.

If you get the 5.4 motor you will get a 9.75 rear end which is plenty beefy for lifts and or towing.
