hello all i am with the airforce here in germany and i bought a 89 f150 lariot and i was just wondering what kind of motor it has undernieth it i havent picked it up yet. but im not sure whether it is an 6 or and 8

Assuming that it has the same engine size that it was manufactured with - the engine code will be the eighth digit of the VIN. For 1989:
Y = 4.9L (300cid) inline six
N = 5.0L (302cid) V8
H = 5.8L (351cid) V8
M = 7.3L (444cid) V8 diesel (don't think these were put in F150s)
G = 7.5L (460cid) V8 (don't know if these were put in F150s)
