New Discovery
I got a surprise this morning...
I am thinking about putting lights in the bed of my F-150
so I am looking around in my cab up by the steering wheel area
for places to run wires and low and behold, on the cover over the
hood release latch, there is a button.
In have no idea what it is but when I press it while the key is on the horn honks.
Help me figure this out.

What year is your truck? Did you buy it new or used?
If used, I suspect it's an alarm of some kind. That's a typical place to hide the programming switch with older alarms.

It is a 2014. I just bought it the beginning of April.
It had 17233 miles on it.
I don't think it has a separate alarm in it.
I might have another surprise Right??

After market for certain, what it does depends on the original owner, maybe James Bond owned it and it's an ejection seat actuator and the horn is the warning it's about to deploy.

Beep Beep
I actually have no idea, but I was thinking that maybe it was a Test button to let you know that the horn is working. This setup may only beep when the key is on.....maybe to tell you to check that the hood is completely latched properly so you aren't going down the road when the hood flies up. If someone forgets to latch it for some reason, and starts the car, possibly it beeps to let the driver know that all is not well.....just a thought.....

I was talking to my brother last night about this and he thought that maybe this was a Lowjack system. He said that you have to activate something in order to start the engine. Maybe open the glovebox, turn the right blinker on, press one of the vents, or press a conspicuously hidden button.
If this is the case, my lowjack my not be activated. Personally don't want it to be, but it is a nice feature if I ever drive to the city.

LoJack requires NO activation. It's a system that car thieves are not supposed to know about, so your vehicle can be tracked and recovered.
It's probably an alarm that the dealership installed and then never "activated." A dealer out here does it, and then charges 2 hours of labor to remove it.
There's a reason I drove out of town when I bought my truck :-/

Mystery Solved!!!
So I am asking about whatever this button may be to everyone who I work with that knows something about cars and other things auto related.
Nobody really knows but one guy who I talked to really gave me some insight.
I know, I should have known to do this, but I wanted to do some legwork before I did it.
He told me to just trace it out and see just where it leads.
Boy did I ever!!
I have a little black button that traces back to a remote car starter.
and a nice one at that.
It is by Directed Electronics 4X03
There is another box in line called a DBALL2
This allows the starter to override the locking systems to start the engine.
Here's my problem now,
I don't have the remote key fob to start the engine.
I see how to program it but without the remote I pretty much have nothing.
Can someone please help me in this journey to get ahold of the remotes so I can use the system that I already have in line.
