What up guys..I just bought a RECON tailgate light bar for my 01 lightning and have no idea how to hook this up.The light functions as brake/running lights,directionals and reverse light.Was just wondering if there was anyone who could give me a walk through on how to set it up.thanks

 

Okay, there are a couple of ways to do this. Im assuming since you have a lightening you do not have a trailer harness. That of course is the easiest way to accomplish this. If not you will just have to run wires to your tail lights. and tap into those.

Before we get started:

Do you have a trailer light hookup?

 

yes i do have the trailer hookup, but i would prefer to hard wire it into the tail lights.thanks

 

Well the easiest thing to do is to actually tap into the trailering harness. Just cut some of the protective wrapping off of the harness. THen get a test lights to determine which wire is which. I believe the colors are universal and the instructions should say which wires to tap into. Get the little wire taps and tap away.

Theses are the wire taps. They can be found at any hardware, walmart, auto parts store.



It also should have came with a different time of wire tap to tap into your reverse lights. Get a test light to determine which wire is the reverse feed.
