Question need help figuring out my trucks problem

hey everyone,

i need some help figuring out whats goin on with my truck, its a 99 f 150 2 wheel drive triton 4.6l v8.. it started with the check engine light cuz my cat went out, got a new cat and cleaned off the air sensor .. check engine light stayed off for a couple days. ran fine until i took it to the mountains. went up 8000 feet when i came back down it ran like **** and has been runnin terrible ever since. when i step on the gas it doesnt pick up speed it sputters and doesnt shift until 6000 rpms, all fluids r changed and full..if anyone can write back and throw in your 2 cents id really appriciate it..thanks

Welcome to the board, Frank.

I cannot offer any sound advice to your problem. We have some great members here with plenty of mechanical experience and I am sure one of them will be able to help you. Be patient and give them some time to find your post.

You may want to flesh out your details a little bit too, like did the check engine light come back on after your trip to the mountains? If so, what codes are coming from the computer? The more details they have, the easier it will be for them to give you advice.

Good luck!

First things comes to mind is why did u clean the 02 and not replace. After cleaning it did u pull of the battery terminals for five minutes so the computer could reset the code? If none of those have u checked the fuel pump, fuel filter and fuel relays that are under the hood. Hope this helps u.

Sounds like he cleaned his Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor.

Was it an oiled type air filter on your intake kit?? If so, it coulda been over oiled. Check and clean your MAF and Throttle Body. Reset the battery and see if it stays away. Sounds like you are running lean after you installed the kit...
