Default need help deciding on some Exhaust pipe sizes!

Hey guys although there are many posts about this out there (i know because i've been looking at them for hours haha) i cant find the answer i need so I decided just to ask for my self.

Just got an 07 FX2 with a 5.4 v8 and I want to change the exhaust on it,
I'm thinking about going with the FM Super 44 si/do but I'm not sure if I should do 2.5 pipes all the way through or do 2.5 after the cat to the muffler and 2.25 from there on. either one would provably end with 3.5 or 4" stainless tip 18" long

I'm almost positive that the stock pipe 2.5" which is why i would like to keep it at that at least from the cat to the muffler. thanks in advance for all your suggestions.

Good choice on the muffler but don't bother with changing the piping before the cat. You won't get any huge performance or sound difference at that HP.

yeah, I wasn't planing on changing it before the cat, the size change would only be after the 44 sorry if i gave the wrong impression.

Either or. I'd do 2.5s all the way through with 4" tips.

Here's FM's explanation:

thanks for the link, I'll provably do that.

like I said I'm almost positive it's a 2.5 stock but I'm not 100% so if anyone knows for sure whether the 07 FX2 is 2.5 or 2.25 stock I would greatly appreciate the input. I will try to properly measure it tomorrow,

if it turns out to be 2.25 then I'll just do 2.25 all the way through i guess.

OK, so I've called a bunch of places near by to get some quotes and so far every shop I've called has given me an estimate of about $350 to do the exhaust on my truck but none of them use Mandrel bent pipes.

I also asked if i brought the muffler and tips, and the said about $180-$200 but once again no mandrel. so i found a system on ebay that offer the FM Super 44, 2.5" Mandrel bent pipes, triple chromed stainless tips, and all the hardware to install, all for about $243....does anyone know if these are any good? cause it sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

here's the link
