I filled up my 2011 FX4 5.0 the other day with 93 oct at the same gas station, same pump I always use and have been getting a CEL ever since...can someone help me out with what to look for or what it means. I'm in the process of moving right now and I have no idea where my OBD2 scanner is to read the code...thanks in advance
Make sure the flap that gets folded back when you insert the fuel nozzle is closing completely. Try taking a rag an cleaning the inside lip that that flap seals against. That is my suggestion.
First, not the check engine light. Nothing to do with the gas station, however, your fill inlet is not sealing correctly and is allowing gas vapors into the atmosphere. There is another flap lower in the inlet that is supposed to seal it, that's why you need that special funnel.

I went back to the gas station and put the gas nozzle back in to try and close any open flaps but I'm still getting the same message...which special funnel would I need?
You only need the funnel for when you are filling from a gas can. Not needed for the gas pump. You can see the flap and see it get pushed open as you insert the nozzle. That’s the flap.
not sure how long it will take the message to go away once you fix the issue without clearing it. Maybe someone knows that answer.
