need help cam phasers

Default need help cam phasers

hello everybody i have a 2006 5.4l with 130k cam phaser is bad on pass side it at the dealer now 1200 to repair should i do both or just the one

I would replace both while the thing is torn apart. Also, have them look over the timing chain guides, as they may be chewed up a bit. If you go to the sticky on this, you'll see what all the parts look like and you may want to go to the shop after they get it all apart and look it over for yourself...talk to the mechanic about what you're both looking at as well...good luck.

With the mileage u have do both and I would also rec replacing the timing chain tensioners I know it is quite a bit more labor to pull the front cover but I am will to bet the house they r blown out and leaking oil and with new phasers u want the noise gone and if they r leaking the noise will be back quick and now u r talking tear down again to replace. Every phaser job I do with mileage over 60k I replace tensioners and haven't had a complaint yet and I do about 2 sets a week. Hope this helps
