Need Help/Advice w/Headers...
I don't know much about trucks really, when it comes to after market parts and things to install to get what I want out of my truck. All of my friends told me to come here as they have gotten really good ideas and advice and I would like the same if you guys don't mind.
A quick intro, I have an 06' supercrew f-150 with a 4.6L V8. I take very, very good care of it, so I don't want to screw anything up. Right now I have a cold air intake system with a K&N air filter. I have a superchips programmer with the 87 octane program installed. And I have a flowmaster exhaust dumped right before the rear axle.
That being said, I would like to add a few more things. I have to change my cat converter, because the one I have now is at the point I won't pass inspection, so that is a must, not just something I want to do. And the second thing I would like to do is add long tube headers.
Now, in the research I have done I have heard of something called "high flow" cat converters. So that is my first question, is there such a thing and does it matter/is it worth it? If not, what do you guys suggest?
Then, on the long tube headers, what is a good brand to go with and still be able to have a little money left in my wallet if you know what I mean? I don't want top of the line, but don't want wal-mart brand either.
I plan on buying both items on my own and then having them installed...checked around and the places near me are really proud of their parts and service, so if I can save money buying the parts on my own I plan on doing so and then paying someone to install them.
Last thing is, I have also heard that if I go this route to still be able to pass inspection I will need O2 Emmulators??? Heard of these?
I think that is it, I would really appreciate any input and sorry the post was so long, just wanted to be thorough so I get the best advice from everyone.

yes they do make high flow cats...just make sure they are compatible with your truck...they have 2-way, 3-way and 4-way cats....
as for the headers. You get what you pay for...look for thicker flanges and 1-5/8 primaries....small tube but long tubes....
I prefer Hedman ceramicoat headers
also get collectors with O2 sensor bungs...and add them in...

I really appreciate the advice and you taking the time to reply. If you don't mind, what do you say I should go with in terms of a cat? 2 way, 3, or 4? Also, do you possibly know what size pipes I have and should go with to match up? Or is it as simple as getting under the truck and checking to see what size pipe I have as of now for my exhaust?
Also, I am completely lost with what you mentioned last in terms of the O2 sensors? Can you explain?
