Question Need help on 5.4L decision

Thinking of purchasing 2009 F-150 reg cab 4x4 with the 5.4L engine, 3:31 rear end, 6 speed tranny with 100,000 miles. Truck is beautiful and seems to run great with no noise. Is there still issues with the cam and plugs on this particular year? Don't know if plugs have been changed, but am thinking of making that part of deal, and buying a warranty. My son-in-law the mechanic is telling me to stay away, but I keep going back to this truck. I am new to the site, and need professional advice.

Any opinions out there to help me move forward??

The plug issues where the plugs blew out was 97-03 and the broken plugs where 04-08. As far as I know the 09 5.4 don't have the cam phaser issues, don't don't quote me on it.
