Default Need a DOT compliance letter for exporting from Canada

I need to export my Canadian truck to the US so I can register it, and this requires a DOT compliance letter. Apparently any parts department can order this from Ford, and they make up their own prices. There used to be a site that did it for $20, but they don't anymore. Does anyone have experience getting this from a Canadian dealer? If so, can you share which dealer and how much they charge? Lowest one I've seen so far is $100.

Contact the Ford Customer Relationship Center. They can (and will ) provide you with the necessary letter.

Tell them what you need.

Thanks. Unfortunately they just asked for all of my details, put me on hold for a while, then were no help at all and told me to call Ford Canada. Ford Canada did exactly the same thing, then told me to call a dealer.

Needs to be done at a Dealership. Ford charges the dealership $50.

Ditto..and it's FREE..Don't go thru a dealer. they'll screw you over for $100 or so.
I sold my 11 yr old '07 CDN SuperCrew to a guy from Utah..he needed the letter to cross the border.

I get that $100 isn't nothing, but if you found someone who will actually do it for that, it might be worth it just to have it over and done with. I mean, that's what, two fillups?

Ford corporate (not simply "someone") will send you a letter for free..or should you just drop by your local Ford dealer and hand them a Hundred Dollar bill ?

Seems pretty plain to me... I'd take the 'two fillups' and the FREE letter.

The letter is not free (even though it should be) and you cannot get it from corporate. See my previous post.

Also, this was resolved a long time ago

I just did this exact procedure last year..a call to their CANADIAN corporate 800 number and the letter was free.
I don't know how it goes on your planet.
