leaving tomorrow for about a 300 mile trip, today i replaced ignition coils, been feeling a little sluggish at around 120k miles, the thing i noticed is i have a small oil leak, looks like its dripping from some where above the ac compressor. I have no option but to drive my truck, what precautiuoins should i take?

Make sure your cell phone has a fully charged battery.

Take your tools, extra water for drinking, an extra belt ,oil and some comfortable walking shoes just in case.

Personally I wouldn't make any long distance trip with a known pending issue without having It checked out first. That could be a disaster waiting to happen.

Define "small". Qt/wk, 2 wks, etc. the only thing that can be leaking in that area is a VC gasket or the timing cover. Both require some time to change out. If it's a small leak just carry some extra oil with you and keep an eye on it till you get it fixed. Stay away from the "leak stop" additives.

Agreed.

I bought my first car in 1993 in Pensacola FL on Corry Station Naval training center from a Master at Arms. It was a 1972 Olds Cutlass S. That 350 had serious blow by, and I was only 19 without a clue how to fix it. I tried to drive it home after I was assigned to a ship based out of Bremerton Washington. Home was Chicago........and I had 3 weeks of leave.

I made it just North of Atlanta in Georgia and the head gasket blew. I had to leave all my possessions in the car on the side of the highway. Luckily I had a classmate I was traveling with that dropped me off in North Carolina. The car never left Georgia. I went back for my things with my Uncle and the junk yard kept the car.

I took a greyhound bus to Chicago, and then again to Seattle from Chicago.
Never again will I ever drive a questionable vehicle on a road trip again.

So I have been checking oil, the dipstick is showing that the oil is over the overfill mark there is a small leak because I can see it on oil pan even though I have had only a dime size drop on driveway in 5 days. Should I be concerned if oil is overfilled?
