Navigation update
2015's are different than the 2010. You need the set of four DVD's from a company called Here. They used to be called Navteq. The website you need is allthingsnav.navigation.com. I don't know how to do a link, but that's the site you need. The cost will be around $149.00 bucks. The set includes Software Application updates, Navigation map updates and Gracenote updates for the sound system. The last version I did was last year, Version 7.0X, the new version out now is 8.0X for $149.00. It will take several hours to do the updates. If you decide to do the updates they will need your VIN #, and your navigation system application number. You can find them, I believe by going to the Menu on your Nav. system. Just hit the MENU hard button and look for the screen you need with the info.. I hope that helps you out.

Hmmm wondering if I really need to pay 150 for map updates on my 2012. Hmmm
I dont think im ready to bit that bullet. I was thinking/ hoping the normal ford updates updated the maps..I guess not. Too bad....

The Navteq folks want everyone to "upgrade" to support their never ending updating process. One version will include changes in your driving area and it might take 4 ? versions more before anything changes in your area. As such, each version can affect many, but not all, areas.
Software Application Updates ? I don't know what this means.
Gracenote: For those that listen to XM or FM/AM, this is not used. Only thru streaming apps does Gracenote come into play.
Navigation systems are all about the license level. As you get higher in cost (license level) you access more of the attribute data stored within all the maps. EX: An el-cheapo GPS unit will calculate a route based on ANY road in between. A higher end GPS unit will calculate based on many attributes (# of lanes, type of road surface, tolls, posted speed limit etc...). How the license levels are determined is privileged information.

Most changes you'll probably never even notice. New roads are built, old ones close, speed limits change. New banks, stores, etc. go up, others go down. About the only thing I noticed when I did the last update on my Nav. system, was that a red arrow was added on the route display and the look of an interchange on route was a bit different. Other than that I couldn't tell a thing. Of course the Gracenote updates music information for new artists, albums, etc.. I really don't know what happens as far as the Software goes. I did the updates probably because of that alone. So in the end, do you want to spend 150.00 for something you don't necessarily see? That's up to you. I have no idea how the newer systems look and act other than what I've seen on the net.
