I traded the 2011 for a 2012. There was no update available for the 2012 Nav, but I did get a notice for the 2011 that there was an update available. But in looking at the 2012 map - it has the same up to 5 year old errors that the 2011 had. So whatever the update does, it apparently doesn't update streets, roads and points-of-interest. It is so bad, (even has the name of some towns wrong) I don't trust it for anything. If I'm going to set up a route and use the Nav, I check it with a current good map and adjust it as needed.
I would be willing to download for free an update, but I certainly wouldn't invest a postage stamp to get one - much less pay them money too.
I noticed that the map in my 2011 was at least 5 years old. WalMart moved to a new store 6 years ago and it still showed them in the old location, just as an example - there were plenty of others.

IMO they are overpriced. I have a Chebby (yea that's the first mistake) and the update is 200+. The navigation system is such a pos it's just not worth the price. My '13 came with the Navigation, and when it's time to update it probably won't get done. I've got a $79 Garmin w/lifetime updates, so if Garmin can do it looks like Ford could.
