Mystery button and wiring
2018 f150 XLT 5.0L 4WD
Daughter just bought this used and while searching for how the auto start-stop was or was not working I found the small button at the bottom of the dash. It can't be reached while driving. It is connected with inline wire taps (pink things)
The wiring in the red box looks also to be altered. I haven't removed tape yet to see what is going on. In addition there is a small connector wired into two wires of the OBD connector. (picture bottom left) The remaining wires are not connected. The truck has built in towing package with brake control. Locating wiring diagrams getting a Forscan tool
now but thought someone must know what is going on here.
Thank you for any help.

Veteran, retired Navy..
Welcome.
If purchased from a dealer, they have the contact info for whoever traded it in, I'd start there..

Winner!
It's the exposed part of a dealer-installed KARR alarm/security system. The external part shown includes the valet switch, LED indicator, port for the "activation chip" and the receiver for the associated fob. If the "activation chip" is installed, the front panel is replaced with one that has a hole for the LED to be exposed.
Plenty of YouTube videos or articles on how to remove/disconnect it. Just Google it.
