Default Is this much rust is normal I a 2010?

Hi all. I'm considering my first truck, a 2010 f150 and though generally it looks really good, I did notice some varying amounts of rust and paint peel underneath. I know that some rust is to be expected but just wanted to double check. It has 113k on it in Wisconsin. Thanks for any feedback.

113k in Wisconsin that amount of rust is practically non existent, rust belt states and owners that never under carriage wash usually break in half by then.

While it's not a vehicle I would give a 2nd look at, in your area it may not be a bad deal depending how much they want for it.

That seems like a lot of rust for a 2010. And I'm in MN

Agreed, and I'm in Michigan. Looks like the PO neglected the truck. I see something like that, on a truck that age, I'd be looking at everything on the truck, and still likely to walk away.
Those rockers and bed look pretty nasty.

Thanks for the opinions..really helpful. Its a 4x4 Lariat 5.4 with a cap, navi, chrome package, and max tow which is what I was really looking for. Asking 20k.

Just based on the photos, what would you all do if you were going to buy it....any product that can be applied to slow the process? Or, is something not worth dealing with and I should keep looking for something in better condition?

Absolutely correct.

OP: to me it looks like it wasn't taken care of at all. I'd be very cautious of that truck. Get a full inspection by a mechanic/body shop you trust. Maybe get an estimate to repair the rust and use it to get a better price on the truck?

That said, I'm assuming that this is the exact truck you are looking for and a good price before the rust.

As a side note, here is a different truck on a quick search. I am not affiliated with any dealer.

This is a 2010 lariat with 123 for 18,000

And a 2013 3.5 eco, xlt, off road, brake control, topper, with 103,000 for 19,800

20K? Don't buy it. I paid $3500 for my 2007 three years ago with NO rust. It looked brand new. Once rust starts like that it is really impossible to stop and it takes big bucks to fix it. I live in northern New England. They dump massive amounts of salt on the roads all winter. This destroys the cars 'n trucks, destroys the bridges and infrastructure, ruins the environment near the roads. I hate it.
Run four good studded snow tires.

It is the exact truck I want but I also don't want a headache. The amazing thing is that the rest of the truck cosmetically looks amazing to me. I'll have to do some thinking on it.

The dealer let me take it on a one day test drive:
