Default Moose Attack

This was an interesting story so I thought I would share it.

My wife owns a photography business and is busy with weddings in the summer. We also spend a lot of time out camping and the two don’t work well together. We actually camp about 38 km up an old logging road on public land, that logging road is about an hour drive from our house. It’s a great place with good fishing and a great community of people that are regularly there.

One weekend this summer we went out early in the week but my wife had a wedding to shoot on the Saturday. We decided that she would drive into town on Friday night, shoot the wedding and, against my better judgment, she would drive back out to camp after the wedding shoot. We agreed that if she was not there by 2 am we would go out looking for her since the logging road is not used by anyone except people going camping. I warned her to be very careful driving back out and especially take her time on the logging road for fear of wildlife, mainly bear and moose, both of which can do a lot of damage if you hit them.

She hit the logging road about 12:30 and just 8 km up the road she rounded a corner to see a bull moose standing in the middle of the road. The moose turned and started trotting up the road so she followed waiting for him to get off the road so she could get by. She followed him for a few kilometers and was thinking how log it was going to take to get to camp at this rate when he suddenly stopped.

He then turned an lowered his head and she immediately thought ‘oh crap’ and he charged the truck! Luckily he was just a young spiker bull and still in velvet so the damage was minimal but frightening nonetheless. Now my wife is a hunter and while concerned knew of the potential. She said there was a lot of noise when he made contact with the truck and he then turned and walked off the road. She was not willing to get out and check the damage but no lights came on and everything seemed OK so she continued on her way and rolled into camp at 1:10 am with an amazing story to tell.

The damage was minor, a battle scare really.

Nice. Looks like that'll come right out with some buffing compound.

lol, that old photoshopped image has been making the rounds for years.

She was actually video recording the moose until it stopped, she then stopped recording assuming is was about to move off the road. Apparently she was wrong
